Somnolence

The band was founded in autumn of 1996 by Sergei (guitars), Alexei (bass, vocals), Oleg (drums) and took the roots from a students band called Negativity. They played something close to death-doom. Then some people were asked to join in and Negativity grew up into 6 musicians and changed a name to Somnolence. The music also became slower, more melodic and more gothic Imight add. The sullen texts were changed by the philosophic lyrics. An aggressive and low voice of a vocalist was mixed with a soprano female vocal. The first public performance took place in CDM-club (now Camelot) in 1997. They played on the festivals like as "Funeral" and "Black rainbow" together with Mental Home, Stonehange, Dreaming soul e.t.a.. Unfortunately the band has problems with staff. They regularly replace persons and it normally causes they're always in search of new sounds and images. The latest songs tend to more progressive-doom for instance.
